I offer counselling and psychotherapy to adults (18+) of all ages, for a variety of issues. These may include: depression, anxiety, suicide ideation, stress, panic attacks, self-esteem issues, relationship difficulties, grief, health challenges, lifespan development changes, parenting issues, anger management, communication skills, career exploration and personal growth.

What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
Counselling and Psychotherapy are both talk therapies that assist with greater self-understanding.

Counselling usually focuses on a specific problem (or problems) and on creating overall wellness. Because people are the experts of their own lives, the counsellor acts as a facilitator to help clients find answers in themselves. Together, counsellor and client will develop a plan of action to either help you reconcile your issues or help you to find ways of coping.

Psychotherapy may require a greater time commitment because it focuses on overall patterns, chronic issues, and recurrent feelings. It also requires an openness to explore the past and its impact on the present, in order to gain greater understanding of and insight into feelings, thoughts and actions.

In order to appreciate the uniqueness of individuals, I use a variety of humanistic, strengths-based, and positive approaches that may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy. Also, through continuing education I will always explore new approaches that are proven effective.
